I. Loved. This. Book. In Your Dreams is everything a new adult book should be. The writing was fantastic, the characters rich and full and a story that is unique to its characters yet relatable to readers. It's about achieving your dreams and how sometimes it takes someone else to help you get there. The strongest part of this story was the unparalleled character development. Both Casey and Murphy are multidimensional characters who show incredible character transformations that are achingly real and the direct result of their relationship with one another. This, together with writing that is sharp and witty, Casey and Murphy's story is an unforgettable one that has left me anxiously awaiting more from Ginger Scott. Casey is a hot mess. His life always seems to be a tangle of loose ends that he just can't ever seem to get straightened out and worse is, he knows it. Murphy is a talented singer songwriter who hides her talent behind her caring and delicate nature and supportive an endearing family. When they come together, what initially seems to be mutual disinterest slowly reveals itself to be an equally desirous and emotional connection. The slow burn nature of their story provided the opportunity for Ginger to give readers a story that was emotionally fulfilling. I never felt rushed by the progression of the story or had to reread portions to truly understand Casey and Murphy's motives and behaviors yet the writing never felt cumbersome or exuberant. The dialogue was clean, simple and fresh and was accentuated by humor and wit. This is the part of the review where I start to feel a little overwhelmed. I want to be able to convey my experience in a way that will convince you go seek out this book and author, add it to your TBR or wish list. And with so many different voices telling you about so many different books, I'm just gonna go with unabashed honesty here - Ginger Scott should feel so incredibly proud of this book. I kind of feel like she already does. It shows in the unassuming humbleness of her writing and in her meticulous attention to character growth. Even now, as I write my review, I'm changing my initial four star rating to five stars. It simply deserves it. Read it, you will probably love it too.
