I was counting down the months until the end of my deployment. My days were spent working on military vehicles, and I spent my nights playing video games that would distract me until I could leave Staff Sergeant Garrett Reid behind.

That was when I met him: Kai Bannon, a fellow gamer with a famous stream channel.

I never expected to become fixated on someone who'd initially been a rival. And I'd never expected someone who oozed charm to notice me—a guy known for his brutal honesty and scowl. I hadn't planned for our online friendship to turn into something that kept me up at night—hours of chatting evolving into filthy webcam sessions.

But it did. And now I can't stop thinking about him. In my mind, our real life meeting is perfect. We kiss, we fall into bed, and it's love at first sight.

Except, like most things in my life, it doesn't go as planned.

*Strong Signal is a standalone, full-length novel with no cliffhanger*

MELISSA'S REVIEW: 4.5 STARS

I was immediately drawn to this one by the blurb and as soon as I got my copy I dove right in. The characters were relatable and well developed and were matched with an equally engaging storyline. It was fun, sexy and heartfelt. Both boys, Garrett and Kai, were awesome. I’m easily drawn to stoic and broody characters like Garrett, especially when deep down they are loyal, thoughtful and affectionate like he is. I loved Garrett’s tendency to be a protector and the ease in which he opens up and expresses himself with Kai despite his previous online experiences. Garrett's character development throughout the story seemed to progress naturally and came with a believable honesty. Kai was similarly well written. I loved his fun loving and brazen online presence. His apprehensive and anxious feelings were conveyed in a way that brought about feelings of compassion and understanding for him. I admired his bravery and his willingness to move beyond his anxiety for the benefit of himself and his relationship with Garrett. I really enjoyed the writing and felt that elements of the storyline were well plotted and thought out. The development of Garrett and Kai’s online relationship was absolutely perfect. Their initial interactions are fueled by curiosity and an uncertainty that readily dissipates as they begin to share more about themselves and acknowledge their shared feelings of interest. I loved their online sharing of emails and selfies and their sexy skype sessions. Once their relationship moved from online to real life, I couldn’t get enough of their sweet and loving exchanges and their cuddling. Their cuddling is everything, le’sigh. And for all of the ooey-gooey-lovey-dovey-ness of their story, I thought their personal and coupled conflicts were relatable and convincing. I think any couple regardless of sexual orientation could find themselves in the similar situation of “how do I make love work despite all of these obstacles standing in my way?” Kudos to Megan and Santino for creating a tender, relevant and tangible love story. I enthusiastically recommend Strong Signal to anyone, especially readers who love m/m romance, cuddling, and cyber love. This is my first from both Megan Erickson and Santino Hassell but you can damn well believe that I’ve thoroughly stalked both of them since reading and plan to make my way through both their libraries.

ABOUT MEGAN ERICKSON

Megan Erickson is a former journalist who switched to fiction when she decided she liked writing her own endings better. She likes to pretend she has control now, but usually her characters are the ones who hold the reins. Her romance novels have a touch of humor, a dash of nerdy, and always a happily ever after.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids, and two cats named after John Hughes characters. She's still waiting for the party she was promised when she grew to five feet... maybe because she never got there.

ABOUT SANTINO HASSELL

Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family, but he was anything but traditional. He grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, then a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into an unlikely romance author.

Santino writes queer romance that is heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, his belief that human relationships are complex and flawed, and his own life experiences.
