From the author of There You Stand, a new male/male romance about an errant motorcycle recruit and the captivating bartender who sends his wheels spinning down an all too tempting road.
Vaughn O’Keefe has been part owner of the Hog’s Den for years. Privy to plenty of Disciples of the Road business, he’s never been more ruffled as when a new recruit named “Smoke” walks through the door. Something about the man gets his blood pumping, but he knows to keep his preferences under wraps around the club. “Smoke” Callahan has done a couple of rehab stints and is finally clean, thanks to help from the Disciples. He’s on the right path and isn’t about to get sidetracked, no matter how much the guy who manages the bar gets beneath his skin. Besides, his last relationship with a man left him scared, alone, and with a nightmare of an addiction. When the Hog’s Den becomes shorthanded, and Smoke is ordered to help out the one man he can’t have, his longing for the bartender reaches blistering proportions. Vaughn figures a night together should be enough to satisfy their mutual attraction. But neither banks on just how scorching hot it might be. As Smoke’s past unravels and the one person he hopes never to lay eyes on again messes with all he holds sacred, it’s time to involve the Disciples. Problem is, he’ll have to risk his membership, his heart, and his own hide to keep everyone he cares about safe

MY REVIEW
I really liked The Darkest Flame from Christina Lee. Vaughn and Smoke had amazing chemistry. One aspect of their relationship I loved was their willingness to explore their attraction to one another despite their fears and trepidations that lie ahead if someone were to find out about their sexual preferences. The sexual tension that radiated between them was hard to ignore, causing them to fall head first into one another. Christina also made it very clear just how much they cared for each other - Vaughn in the way he encouraged Smoke's achievements in his sobriety, and Smoke in the way he supported Vaughn when his father fell ill. I loved experiencing the way their love bloomed from friendship to intimacy. Not only was their relationship passionate and sensual, it was also based upon strong beliefs such as friendship, trust and honesty. I was not 100% on board with the MC element. I haven't read very many books that involve these types of organizations but when I think of what a motorcycle club is words like dirty, gritty, dangerous, dark, volatile come to mind. I felt as though the club Smoke was recruiting for, The Disciples, was MC lite. The "do-gooder" goals of The Disciples prez Mal seemed to wash away the savage acts of the rival MCs and as the climax of the story was revealed, I was left feeling a bit underwhelmed. This was my first book from Christina Lee. As a new-to-me author it took a bit to adjust to her writing style. But once I got into the groove, the story was fluid and expressive. It captured my attention and kept me interested from start to finish. I'm excited to read more from Christina and look forward to more installments of the Roadmap to Your Heart series.
