PRIEST by SIERRA SIMONE RELEASE DAY BLITZ and REVIEW

SYNOPSIS

There are many rules a priest can't break.

A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.

I've always been good at following rules.

Until she came.

My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.

I am a priest and this is my confession.

***Priest is a standalone, full-length novel with an HEA. For mature audiences only.***

REVIEW

I knew I wanted to read this as soon as I read the blurb. I love reading about the forbidden and what is more forbidden than a Priest who breaks his vow of celibacy? There’s not much more, so to say I was excited to dive into this story sounds foolish. I was beyond excited; I was enthralled and fascinated. So when I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review I dove right in.

I wish that I could say that I’m still fascinated by Tyler and Poppy’s story. While the writing was good, great even in some parts, and the sex was scorching hot, I was not ever fully able to engage with the story make an emotional connection to either Poppy or Tyler or their connection throughout their journey.

Written from the male POV, it was easy to understand Tyler’s suffering and guilt about his attraction to Poppy. He has made a vow to God, to himself, to his community. He and his family and church have suffered and persevered through an immense tragedy. But, those feelings of guilt were grossly overshadowed by his powerful sexual cravings and his willingness to repeatedly break his vow, which resulted in a one dimensional and under developed male lead.

Poppy’s character is as underwhelming as Tyler’s. Her behaviors with Father Bell from their initial meeting are crude and illicit. She used sex and sexual acts to tempt and gain attention from men, yet she held an MBA with honors from Dartmouth. She was such a contradiction. I didn’t find her to be likeable or intelligent.

Overall I felt that the storyline was predictable and weak and in the end not even very forbidden. When I finished I wanted more from the story, not more of the story. I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review from Sassy Savvy Fabulous PR and Marketing.
